Meet Dr. Bonciel Griffin-Burress
Dr. Griffin-Burress loves being an orthodontist because it allows her the opportunity to educate patients and transform smiles while building relationships with her patients. She treasures her “orthodontic family.”
Dr. Griffin-Burress, a Chicago native, graduated from Clissold Elementary and Morgan Park High School in the Beverly/Morgan Park neighborhood. She attended Albion College, where she majored in biology and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1997. After graduation, she pursued studies at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, where she obtained her Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2001. Subsequently, Dr. Griffin-Burress completed a two-year orthodontic residency at Howard University College of Dentistry and obtained her certificate in orthodontics in 2005.
Dr. Griffin has recently completed her two-year continuing educational courses in Advanced Orthodontics with world-renowned Dr. Richard McLaughlin. From 2016 to 2017, Dr. Griffin improved her knowledge and skill with the latest trends in technology for orthodontics, including treatment planning, diagnosis, and actual treatment. She's proud to apply what she's learned and practiced towards improving the smiles of all her patients.
Dr. Griffin-Burress is a member of the American Dental Association, Chicago Dental Association, Illinois Society of Orthodontists, and American Association of Orthodontists. In 2012, Dr. Griffin-Burress was selected as one of the 40 Under 40 Game Changers in Chicago, by Crain’s Chicago Business and WVON-AM radio. Dr. Griffin-Burress received this honor for being one of the only African-American female orthodontists to own multiple private orthodontic practices in Chicago and the metropolitan area.
When not treating patients, Dr. Griffin-Burress enjoys reading and spending time with her husband, Sean, and daughter, Brooke. She also enjoys her huge extended Chicago family and friends.
Dr. Griffin-Burress chose the Chicago community to build her practice because of its traditional family values and friendly people. She loves being a part of the growing community of families and welcomes yours!
