WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT WHEN GETTING BRACES?

• Be prepared to choose what type of braces, color and other options you want.
• You will experience minimal discomfort, but it will usually wear off after a few days.
• You will only be able to eat soft foods, so prepare ahead of time by having proper snacks on hand.
• Depending on your condition, expect to be in the orthodontist’s office for 1-2 hours.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WEAR BRACES?

The length of time most patients wear braces depends on the severity of the condition, but for children and adolescents, the average time is 1 to 3 years, while adults should expect to wear braces from 1.5 to 3 years. Additionally, how well you care for your appliance during treatment contributes to how long you’ll wear your braces. Poorly maintained braces can lengthen your orthodontic treatment time, so it is vital that you attend appointments regularly, have your braces repaired when necessary and follow recommended maintenance to avoid extended treatment times.

Also, if you lose your retainer, we can replace it and move teeth that have shifted during any inactive retainer or clear aligner time.
